Stockport has just been named one of the greenest councils in the UK. Residents across the Borough have helped to recycle over 60% of household waste putting Stockport in the top 2% in the whole of England and Wales. To add to this achievement, the recycling avoided £12m of disposal costs. Overall Stockport was 7th out of all authorities and compares with a national average recycling rate of 44.7%.
