Patients voted the Marple Bridge GP practice as the best in the region.

 

According to the MEN this week, 850,000 responded to the nationwide patient survey.

Astonishingly, 100 per cent of patients at Marple Bridge said they were happy their doctor listened to them when they explained what was wrong.  And 98.9 per cent said they would recommend the surgery to a newcomer to the area.

A total of 99.5 said their GP gave them enough time, and 98.5 per cent said they had a good experience the last time they made an appointment.

Of those who completed the survey 99.3 per cent rated their overall experience at the surgery as good and 77.9 per cent were satisfied with waiting times.

Dr Jane Needham, who has been with the practice for 17 years, said, “We are absolutely delighted with the survey results. The whole team works very hard and it’s a real team effort.

“We’d like to say thank you to everyone who responded to the survey.

“We have done fairly well in previous national surveys but we didn’t expect to come top in Greater Manchester.

“It’s really down to good old fashioned general practice, good access and good relationships with our patients.  We value continuity of care and good relationships with our patients and that’s what it’s due to really.

“Our job is to listen to patients so we’d be surprised if it was any less than 100 per cent.”

 

In this humble councillor’s opinion, it is also teamwork: doctors, nurses, admin and reception staff are excellent, supported by resources and medical skills.
