Plans to redevelop the old warehouse building (and adjacent land) at the junction of the Macclesfield and Peak Forest Canals have been published. This 19th century building has been unused since 2010 and the plans are to turn this listed building into a liveable area and at the same time build 7 new town houses, of similar size to the new 5 ones further down.
The plans are listing on Stockport Council website – search online for DC/06700o for the basic plan and DC/067001 details of the plan relating to historical context.
Please do make your opinion heard and make a comment for or against. You have until 4 Oct to comment online. Also please be patient as the planning pages sometimes are hard to access.
Local Councillors have been discussing for a while alternatives to the plan for housing, as this is an historical asset that links with other elements of our local history and has potential to be a community building. The local Civic Society has indicated it is against this development. The closing date for comments is soon and given above: it is vital the local community have a voice!
As an aside, CRT opened the Toll House this weekend. This is the small building with the black porch near Lock 16; it should be open most weekends with displays.

I sent an objection by post makig two points:
a) the integrity of the warehouse must not be affected b) the present very good access to “New Horizons” musr not be affected.
I have also said that any nterference wit access to “New Horizons” may offend the Disabiliy Discrimination rules.
