All 6 cllrs have just approved a change to make Marple South ward into Marple South and High Lane, recognising the latter as an important and separate entity.

However, there is a now a move to rename the whole Area Committee too that serves about 20,000 from Werneth Low to Mellor to Hawk Green to High Lane.

The proposed change is for Marple Area Committee to become “Marple & High Lane Area Committee”.

Residents can get involved by completing a questionnaire online or via touchscreen kiosks in Marple Library and High Lane Libraries. Paper copies of the questionnaire are also available from these libraries. The consultation runs until 14 October 2017 and a decision will be made at the Council meeting on 30 November 2017.
