Firstly work is progressing on the A6 road repairs, but its still weeks off finishing. We’ll keep you updated.
In Marple Bridge, there are repairs to the leaking water at the junction of Town St and Hollins Lane. However on 1 Oct (Sun) there will be further works at the junction of Town St and Lower Fold.
Re limited bus service withdrawal, TfGM have told us:
There is also the Ring and Ride service for older or less able residents – phone 0161 200 6011 or 0845 688 3989 for details or look on http://www.tfgm.com/ringandride/Pages/default.aspx
There is also a Travel Voucher scheme whereby you may give up your concessionary pass for bus travel (but not rail or tram) and get very cheap vouchers for use in taxi travel – £30 would get you £150 of taxi travel, for instance. See http://www.tfgm.com/journey_planning/Tickets/Pages/tickets_travel_vouchers.aspx

Contractors for BT will be undertaking ducting works to provide a new service on Hibbert Lane, Marple, between the junctions of Brindley Avenue and Cotefield Close. These works are scheduled to take place from 29th September to 12th October and will require the use of temporary traffic signals which will be staffed throughout peak hours.

Yes I went to Marple bridge this morning traffic lights set up at the bottom of long hurst lane cause ing Caios and disruption, both sets of lights staying on red and not changing at all , meanwhile Hibbert lane Marple is filthy workmen are now using the highway as part of the building site heavy machines on the road and nothing gets done about it
There are 3 sets of lights, including Hollins Lane. It is a problem, but better than the original water leak and they will be gone soon.
Building sites are inevitably a bit messy, but they should regularly clean after themselves. I have seen an “Ubu” wagon there.
I think it a pity to withdraw bus services (Pennies saved) and to continue to build new roads ( tens of pounds spent) in a bid to solve an insoluble problem-traffic will always grow to overfill whatever roads are provided. And the buses quoted as making the the local ones redundant have always been there-if they are so good why were 304 etc ever introduced-the 358 etc don’t come round Ley Hey.nor I know any oher estate and the frequency of the 394 makes it useless at least to me.
Whilst roads are clogged and in future the push should be to use public transport, or cycle or walk, these services cost thousands not pennies, are very infrequent and not well used. When cash is tight (hence we could only subsidise a 2-hourly 394 – that’s tens of thousands per annum) choices need to be made.
Please check http://www.tfgm.com/ringandride as an alternative service.
Sadly I am not on TfGMC any more but I can contact those who are. Anyone can email me for more info.
