I like to think that we in the Lib Dems are rational and tolerant.
After the coalition, this Conservative government decided to stop building inland wind farms, destroy the Feed in Tariff (removing the burgeoning UK solar industry at a stroke) and now reintroduce the “snooper’s charter” to see where all internet users have been.
Closer to home, we suggested a trial of allowing dogs on trams in Manchester. They can be carried on buses and trains already and the proposal was for off-peak and in baskets. I don’t have a dog but I can see why you might want to use public transport with a well-behaved one. As do the majority of public transport users. Tolerance.
But at the last TfGM (Transport for Greater Manchester) policy committee Labour and Tories summarily threw it out without even discussing it. The last chance for dog-lovers is this Friday’s full TfGM meeting. I do hope they’ll do the right thing. I will keep you posted.

The anomaly stays, with only 6 Labour and all 3 Lib Dems voting in favour of allowing dogs on trams.
