Digital lending library

by Malcolm Allan on 2 August, 2020

Residents can now borrow IT devices to help them learn how to use the internet and access on-line services for essential needs, for limited periods. This is a bit like borrowing a book. Residents may use the devices for different essential uses such as searching for jobs, keeping in touch with family members and allowing children to complete their schoolwork. The devices will come with support from the DigiKnow volunteer digital champions to make sure residents have any support they need and can stay safe online.
The lending library has a small pool of devices (across Stockport: 10 tablets purchased so far while they test how suitable they are, plus 65 laptops specifically for families with children), some internet-enabled, and the loan period will typically be for one month, but this is flexible. If residents already have a device and just need digital support, they can call the digital helpline on 07537 127095.
