Here are a few bits of current information on different topics of interest

Parking
Parking in council pay and display areas in district centres such as Marple will be free after 2.00pm from Monday to Friday starting on 14th and continuing up to 31st December

Community Groups Funding
Local groups can bid for funding from The Local Connections Fund. £4m has been set aside for small grants to those organisations helping to reduce loneliness bringing communities together. Examples of groups who might be eligible are Book Clubs and walking groups. See

Scams
Please be aware there are a lot of these circulating around Christmas. One in particular pretends to be from a parcel company such as DPD or Royal mail. The aim is to get you to click on the link and give away your phone number and bank details. You then receive a call from the criminals, pretending to be from the Bank’s fraud team, suggesting you put your money into a safe account – which is theirs and they steal it. There many variations of this scam, including fake supermarket shopping vouchers. A good tip to check if something might be a scam is to tap on the sender and see if their email address is recognisable.

Baths consultation
The proposals for a community hub around a new pool and leisure centre are out and available via the council web site but also on physical display outside the library on a wall (under cover) by the current exit and on the wall of the old baths. There are three options described in detail.
