Stockport-wide road improvements for early 2016

Please see below details of various roadworks across the Borough in the first few months of 2016. These relate to works by utilities companies along with work on the A6MARR (click on the map above to see the route more clearly), the Woodford development, the Town Centre Access Package (TCAP) and the regeneration scheme for Stockport Exchange.

Whilst there may be short-term delays, these schemes will create a much better road network for all of Stockport’s residents.

January 2016

A6MARR

· A523 Macclesfield Road

NGrid Gas commence works between boundary with CEC and Ashbourne Road from 5 January for 3 weeks to 26 January under temp two way signal traffic control staffed 0700hrs – 1900hrs

· A6 Buxton Road north end tie in (vicinity of Hazel Grove Golf Club entrance)

Electricity NW to work during January 2016, all works either off existing highway or do not require temporary traffic control. ENW must complete before NGrid works commence.

TCAP

· 101 St Marys Way, Portwood Roundabout

Phase 1 commence on 17 January with nearside northbound lane closure approaching Portwood Rbt on 17 January and 24 January.

Phase 2 commence on 18 January, concurrent with above NIGHT TIME WORKING close nearside northbound lane 1930hrs – 0400hrs for two weeks.

· 304a Heaton Lane.

· Phase 1/2 commence 11 January on north side of Great Egerton Street, no traffic restrictions.

· 401a Bridgefield Street

Works continuing in Bridgefield Street under temporary road closure.

· 401b A6 Right Turn

Parapet demolition from 4 January for two weeks, main works commence from 16 January relocation of bus stop and temporary highway works for 4 weeks, no planned traffic restrictions

Stockport Exchange

· Station Road

Closed in both directions between the junction with Railway Road and the gable end of Stockport Swimming Pool from 9 January for 6 months. Temporary drop off / taxi ranking adjacent to station building accessed from Railway Road.

Woodford Redrow

· Chester Road

Temporary 2 way signals associated with construction of entrance rbt under Section 278 agreement at entrance to Redrow site from 05 January (subject to design approval) until end May 2016.

Utilities

· NGrid Gas. Wellington Road, Georges Road, Stockport.

Closure of northbound nearside bus lane between M60 overbridge and Belmont Way from 4 January for 6 weeks for Gas main renewal. The middle two weeks from 18 January will involve the closure of Georges Road one way north east bound from B&Q rbt towards the A6.

February 2016

A6MARR

· A6 Buxton Road north end tie in

NGrid Gas to commence works from 1 February 2016 until 6 March at junction with Yew Tree Avenue under temp two way signal traffic control staffed 0700hrs – 1900hrs and a TTRO Prohibition of Driving on Yew Tree Avenue between the junction with A6 and A6 Service Road. Entrance to Hazel Grove Golf Club to be signed as joining traffic under signal control if within the temp traffic control. NGrid to apply for Yew Tree Avenue TTRO & apply to TfGM UTC to de / recommission the pedestrian crossing, CMS to undertake advance publicity with affected residents.

BT (DDK) to work under NGrid traffic control from 8 February for 3 weeks.

TCAP

· 101 St Marys Way, Portwood Roundabout

Phase 3 Utility diversionary works from 1 February for approx. 8 weeks most of which will likely take place off highway although there may be some tie in work required.

· 102 St Marys Way, Newbridge Lane

Works commence on retaining wall demolition from 9 February until mid July under a closure of the left turn filter lane from St Marys Way northbound into Newbridge Lane westbound. Diversion via St Marys Way, Great Portwood Street.

· 304a Heaton Lane

Phase 3 commence Great Egerton Street south side 3 weeks 1 February to 19 February no traffic restrictions.

Phase 9 commence Travis Brow 1 week 22 February to 1 March northwest bound offside lane restriction off peak 0930hrs to 0330hrs.

· 401a Bridgefield Street

Works continuing in Bridgefield Street under temporary road closure. Construction contractor take possession of Great Egerton Street car park likely from 1 February. One way traffic eastbound on Bridgefield Street, Debenhams ramp removed under a planned possession of Port Street (full closure) over a Sunday date yet to be agreed.

· 401b A6 Right Turn

Works continuing from 16 January relocation of bus stop and temporary highway works for 4 weeks, no planned traffic restrictions. From 16 February utilities begin service diversion works which will likely take place off highway although there may be some tie in work required.

March 2016

A6MARR

· A6 Buxton Road south end tie in

BT to commence works from 7 March 2016 under temp three way traffic control at junction with Norbury Hollow Road. I will speak to CEC see if they will entertain a closure of Norbury Hollow Road to allow temp two way traffic control instead. BT will be on site until 24 March, NGrid and ENW to review if they can complete their works under the same temp TM.

TCAP

Phase 3 Utility diversionary works continuing most of which will likely take place off highway although there may be some tie in work required.

Phase 4 commence on 28 March NIGHT TIME WORKING close nearside northbound lane 1930hrs – 0400hrs for two weeks.

· 102 St Marys Way, Newbridge Lane

Works ongoing on retaining wall demolition from 9 February until mid July under a closure of the left turn filter lane from St Marys Way northbound into Newbridge Lane westbound. Diversion via St Marys Way, Great Portwood Street.

· 304a Heaton Lane

Programme not yet finalised

· 401a Bridgefield Street

Works continuing in Bridgefield Street under temporary road closure. Redrock construction contractor on site.

· 401b A6 Right Turn

· Works continuing on utilities service diversion works which will likely take place off highway although there may be some tie in work required.
