As part of the Highway Investment Programme, local pavements will have a facelift in March.

There is a commitment to invest £100m to improve roads and footpaths across the borough over a nine year delivery period.  This funding will be used to carry out a range of repairs from patching to resurfacing in targeted areas which will provide a long term solution to the deterioration on the highway network.

As part of the programme, our Alliance Partner Colas Ltd will be carrying out a slurry sealing treatment to footways in the Marple North Ward. The first sites to be treated are listed below:

Church Road, Mellor
Highfield Road, Mellor

The Ceal, Compstall
Ricroft Road, Compstall
Warren Lea, Compstall
Erskine Street, Compstall
George Street, Compstall
Thomas Street, Compstall
Catterwood Drive, Compstall
Orchard Road, Compstall
Compstall Brow, Compstall

Bonington Rise, Marple Bridge
Hogarth Road, Marple Bridge
Lowry Drive, Marple Bridge

Slurry seal is a cost effective thin overlay treatment to extend the life of the existing footway.  Benefits include improved texture, sealing the footway against the ingress of water, arresting deterioration and providing a more uniformed appearance for a patched or worn surface.

Access to properties will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses.

Work is scheduled to start from 7th March with Bonington Rise, Lowry Drive and Hogarth Road with most of the work to be carried out during the school holidays.  Property owners who are directly affected will receive a notification leaflet delivered by Colas Ltd prior to work commencing describing the type of work and timescales that are involved, however, the time scales are weather dependant.

Although some disruption is inevitable this will be kept to a minimum by our staff on site.
