Road works

There have been a few repairs this month, but hopefully most should be finished before the return to school for Marple residents.

There was an emergency repair last week to a burst water main on Station Road that affected water supply and also a one-day repair on 30 Aug to a gully near the junction of Station Road with Stockport Road.  There are no further major repairs scheduled as of today.

The pavement and road replacements in Marple North are nearing completion.  Some roads had not been replaced since their construction; and whilst most are now in excellent condition, there were a few that needed revisiting.  The top treatment on side roads does need bedding in, but if you think there is still a problem, please report it on the SMBC website Report It pages, or let us know.

PS

We have just been advised of the following by the Highways Dept:
“Please be advised that Solutions SK are undertaking works on Station Road, Marple, at the junction with Stockport Road. These works commenced yesterday with regards to a collapsed gully investigation. However, these have works escalated and will require the junction to be closed to traffic as from 9.30 am tomorrow morning, 1st September 2016. Until this time it will be necessary to operate a one-way system at the junction, restricting traffic heading out of Station Road onto Stockport Road. Vehicles will still be able to turn off Stockport Road onto Station Road until the full closure is introduced. Works are expected to be completed prior to peak time tomorrow but the closure may have to be kept in place until Friday to allow the surface to set.

“Signed diversion routes are currently in place via Hollins Lane and Stockport Road and this will be made a two way diversion when the junction is closed.”

Strines

Contractors working on behalf of Electricity North West will be undertaking works on a substation on Strines Road, Strines, approximately 90 metres south of the junction with Plucksbridge Road. These works are scheduled to take place from 1st September to 13th September and will require the use of temporary traffic signals between 09:30 and 15:30 on Friday 1st September and Saturday 2nd September. All other works will be within the substation and will have no effect on traffic flow.

I have just re_read the note about the leak in Brabyns park Road, the water is still running across the road.

  2. Why has Moorend Road been omitted from the repair schedule? It really is in need of attention.

Thanks for all the replies either here or to my email. We originally asked officers to provide a list of the roads in most need of attention, and this was published here early in the year. There was a reserve list (if there was any money left over) but to my knowledge none of these were done.
Cllr Malcolm Allan and myself now meet with the Conservative councillor in Marple N to talk over road matters (I am pleased to report a constructive relationship) and we are looking at the worst outstanding issues. But be aware they cannot all be done.

I know the council have been good doing so many roads but Stockport Road from Cross Lane to Possett Bridge is really bad with pot holes & not very well done repaired roakworks There is a really bad one at the lights at the junction of Station Road & Stockport Road. I’m unsure why it hasn’t been attended to.
