An inspector and a sergeant from Greater Manchester police attended Sept’s Marple Area Committee last night.   The chair encouraged the many questions that came from councillors and public alike.

There has been a spate of anti-social behaviour and more general crime this summer, but there have been arrests and Marple is still one of the safest places to live in Greater Manchester.

The police are asked to do more with less money.  (Makes a change from councillors bemoaning year-on-year cuts.)

The refurbishment of Marple police station enables the police to be more flexible and effective, but there is no front desk.  There is a phone that links to the station in Cheadle Heath, answered from 8 am to 11 pm.  Don’t forget you can always use 999 in an emergency.

Someone asked “How do you hand in lost property?”.

The answer is use the online forms if possible.  This also gives other details such as crime statistics, jobs in the force and how to get in contact.
